Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose Home Helpers?

We know first hand the difficulty in managing a family as well as taking care of a loved one.  It was this personal experience that made us decide to dedicate our time and energy to Home Helpers.  As a result, our Caregivers are often people who, as a result of personal loss, are looking to give back to others.  Our Caregivers are members of the local community and come from all walks of life.  We look to employ people who are passionate about what they do.  Additionally, we are mother-daughter owned and operated and fully recognize that we are in a service industry and serving you and your family is our goal.  We know how important family is and treat our clients as we would want our loved ones treated.

How is Home Helpers different from other organizations?

For some families this is the first time they have had to seek help from outside of the family so it is very important that everyone is comfortable with us and our services. We start the process with a face to face meeting in the client’s home to understand the situation, environment, the client’s needs and expectations. The no-obligation in home consult makes a big difference to ensure a good working relationship between us and our potential clients. Many other organizations simply assign the next available person and ask that they show up at a specified time but to us it is all about relationships. After the initial discussion, the best match is determined for you based on skill set, personality and schedule. The Caregiver is then personally introduced to the client as well as the family; we never have someone unknown report to the client’s home. The purpose of the personal introduction is to ensure the Caregiver and client are a good match; we want a solid relationship to begin from day one and strive to foster a loving, caring, stable and lasting relationship. We take pride in our communication practices between ourselves, the client, the client’s family and the Caregiver. The three most important attributes of Home Helpers are our service, relationships and communication.

Who pays the Caregiver?  Do I pay them and you separately?

Home Helpers administers all the billing, payroll, employee/employer taxes, workers compensation and liability insurance, non-owned auto insurance, bonding and administrative/scheduling responsibilities.  All Caregivers are employees of Home Helpers not subcontractors so you never have to worry about exchanging money with the Caregiver.  Additionally, since we pride ourselves on a simple and straightforward billing process we offer a unique billing guarantee.  We guarantee 100% of your invoices will be accurate but if not, you are credited money back.  This policy is fully explained during the initial in home consult.

How do you prepare your employees for a new assignment?

Every Caregiver is introduced and oriented to each client’s individual needs, ways and habits.  We match Caregivers who already have the skills and experience necessary to assist you and then mentor and coach them to be orientated to your way of living and individual preferences.  Additionally, we coach Caregivers on a client’s specific care needs and how to best respond to various situations, should they arise.

Are your services limited to seniors?

No, they are not limited to seniors.  We also provide services to those recuperating from an illness or injury, new mothers and families as well as those requiring continuing care.  While the specific situations and clients needs vary, we find the overall care and help needed is quite similar and our services can make a large impact in many peoples lives.
